Well, its been a while since I had a really good wine and it was good to end my dry spell with this belter from Two Hands. Its not the best wine from them, so I am already salivating about my next wine from them, as this was damn good. Cost me 25 Euro, and was worth every cent, as it was a classic round and warm Shiraz that you expect from the great Australian wine producers like Mollydooker and Ben Glatzer!  If you want a wine which is just great, then grab a bottle of this little beauty! 93 points from me.

There are a lot of great Syrahs from Chile in my opinion, but this one for the price rates right up there! I picked it up for about 15 Euro’s and it apparently scored 90 points by Robert Parker but I would even go so far as giving it 92, as it really is a nice warm wine that you just want to keep lapping up. Its also strong at 14.5% so unfortunately you can’t drink as many of them as you want, but if you want a wine which would be great with red meat, but also great alone then this is worth your effort.

First time in my life that I have had a Petit Verdot from Australia, and I will admit that its actually quite good. Very thick and heavy wine, even heavier than a Shiraz but with a really deep and interesting after taste. At 15% though you actually don’t want to drink it on an empty stomach or you feel it hit your head pretty hard!! I had the 2007 and paid about 15 Euro for it from a bottle shop, so a mid range wine but tasted more like a 30 Euro bottle would, so I can only recommend picking up a bottle if you are into heavy wines with plenty of texture. I give it 90 points.

And resurrection it is… However instead of reviewing everything I drink (which drove me insane, as I could see how much I drank ), I am only going to review the wine I really like.

So from now on, its Great Wine only on this blog, and I will try and give a reason I like it, how much I paid for it, and even where I got it, so anyone who is interested and try it out themselves.

This wine though is definitely a bit young and really should have been cellared for a bit, as even though it was okay after I “aired it” it still was a bit too “bity” and not anywhere near a subtle wine. It was not expensive though and was competitive in pricing. If you see a Anakena, give it a go, but if you have the opportunity cellar it for a couple of years at least. Alright.
